Version 1.0 of a Dublin South-West Forum user manual is available for download.

Presented in Word format, it can be printed up and referred to easily by users. It features colour illustrations of many of the Forum's features and functions and is designed as an accompaniment to the ProBoards' online Help facility.

It may take a few minutes to download to your computer, depending on your connection speed and Internet conditions. Please use File + Save As to store it on your computer, if you wish to.

Using the radio channels

As of 02/04/2006 there is a link to an Internet radio channel near the top of the screen. Click on the button marked Radio to access.

1) The window which next opens is a page of the 365.com site. If you see a large, round, yellow button with a symbol of a loudspeaker on it, press that.

2) If you've not been there before, you will be offered a "player download". Accept this to begin listening.

3) After the player downloads, an advertisement window may display. Click the button marked "Continue" if necessary.

4) The player window should then begin playing the radio channel.

What happens when your first listening experience is over?

To remove yourself from the radio channel, simply "X" out of the radio player. In case this was an accident, the player asks if you wish to do this. Press "Continue" to leave the player.

Why does it ask me to register the next time I visit?
The registration process involves signing up (for free) to the 365.com site. Do so if you wish.

A cookie downloaded to your machine the first time you listened to a channel tells their computer that you've been there before.

To avoid signing up, go to Tools + Internet Options + Temporary Internet Files + Delete Cookies. This will allow you go through the rigmorole for 1st-time listeners all over again.

If you sign up, you simply log in with a user name and a password the next time you wish to listen to a channel.

Dressing up the forum!

I was amazed to see the posting from new member Shanda.Leer@2die4.com

I didn't believe this type of graphical expression was possible within DSW!!!

Knowing how to do it is another thing! Am I missing something obvious in the DSW Users Guide? (Or is a Word Copy the answer?}

The graphics used are simple enough.

As you know, it is possible to post images using the [img] tag?

Simply post a link to an image of an animated image and it will appear.

Shanda Leer posted a link to an animated image in the signature section, rather than the body text.

The movement of the text from right to left is a Marquee effect.

262 posts later he decides he might like to read the manual.

I'd criticise that if I wasn't exactly the same. Plug it in; blow it up; read the manual.

Men, wha'?

No need to fear, Liam. The spam has been removed and in company with several of his countrymen, the contributor has been barred.

(BTW: It happens about once a month)
